The King Philip Basketball Association is a youth basketball organization serving the Plainville, Wrentham and Norfolk communities. The KPBA’s goal is to develop youth basketball players while focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and player self-esteem, all while preparing players for the next level of competitive basketball to be played at the High School level.
The KPBA is an organization that manages the 3-8th grade youth basketball travel teams in the King Philip Region (Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham). (We are not involved in the Warrior Youth Basketball Program which is a Wrentham recreation league for children within the KP school region.) Our primary focus is organizing and managing competitive teams that participate in the MetroWest Travel League. There are currently a total of eighteen teams that are entered into the league. Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 have four teams: a girls and boys Metro "A" team and a girls and boys Metro "B" team. Grade 4 has a girls and boys Metro "A" team. Tryouts are held each year using independent evaluators to select each of these eighteen teams. The MetroWest League is the most competitive league in Southeastern Massachusetts so the top ten players in each tryout are selected for Metro "A" team. The next twelve players are selected for the Metro "B" team Both teams are part of the MetroWest league, but play in different divisions.
